With video conferencing widely used during this coronavirus outbreak, service providers are doing their best to ensure that you have the best served to you. Now, following what Zoom and Skype have to offer, you can finally add your own background to Microsoft Teams video chats.

Teams is basically designed for business and education, and includes group chat, video calling and collaboration tools. The new update lets you pick a custom image as your video chat background. The only catch, however, is that this feature is only available for scheduled meetings.

How to customize call background in Microsoft Teams

You need to start or join a Teams meeting, from the Windows or Mac application. Click on the three dots at the bottom of the screen to go to your Meeting controls. From here, select More actions which leads you to Show background effects.

You can either select Blur to blur your background, or choose from the available images to replace it. You’ll be able to preview your background to see how it looks. If you like it, hit Apply.

Microsoft says that you’ll also be able to create your own images in the near future, as well as upload them to Teams, and then select them as a background image for your video chats. The new Microsoft Teams is part of the revamped Microsoft 365 package.
