NIRA relocates Kampala office

NIRA Kampala Central office national identity card registration

National Identification Registration Authority (NIRA) has shifted its office in Kampala Central to Plot 62 on Lumumba Avenue.

The Authority announced the development via Twitter.

NIRA says the offices are open Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 5:00pm.

The government agency is responsible for processing a number of crucial documents like birth and death certificates, national ID, which is a must-have when applying for an ePassport in Uganda.

NIRA was created by the Ugandan parliament on March 26, 2015, in the law known as the Registration of Persons Act 2015.

It is currently headed by Judy Obitre Gama, who serves as the executive director.

The agency’s main office is located at Independence Grounds, Kololo Airstrip in Kampala.

It also has other units across the country, working under sub-county and district leaderships.

Through them, you can apply for a national ID, have it replaced or correct information; you can also use these offices to get a birth certificate and process a death certificate.

NIRA also produces personal alien identification cards. You can check out all the services offered by NIRA here.
