WhatsApp rolls out group calling feature, here is how you can use it

restore deleted WhatsApp chats

WhatsApp is finally rolling out its group calling feature. After a successful beta test which was availed in June this year, the Facebook-owned app has decided to roll out this feature to its WhatsApp users everywhere.

The feature works for both calls and video chats. For starters, the feature will allow adding up to four people on a single call. This is, however, low than what other similar applications show. iPhones have face time which allows up to 32 users at the same time.

“Group calls are always end-to-end encrypted, and we’ve designed calling to work reliably around the world in different network conditions. The feature is currently rolling out on the iPhone and Android versions of our app,” reads the WhatsApp blog post posted on July 30.

How to use it

Using the feature is as easy as using the “one to one” calls feature that has been around for some time now. A user is required to start a one to one call like they have always been doing and when the call launches, you will see a feature to click to add another user. All you have to do is keep adding users until your required group is all connected.

WhatsApp now joins Skype, FaceTime, Instagram and other applications in providing group calls.

As usual, this feature will come in an update to your current version. These application updates can be obtained from the Google Play Store for Android or the Apple Store for iOS. Apk versions can be downloaded directly from websites like “apkmirror” online.
