MTN unveils fin-tech Hackathon for African developers

MTN has been keen on developing developer talent through its various API challenges and hackathons. The company has announced yet another innovative and exciting hackathon that will bring together developers seeking to build digital finance systems. This challenge, the first of its kind for developers will be for software builders in Uganda, Ghana, Cameroon, Cote d’Ivoire, and Zambia.

Dubbed the MTN MoMo Developer Hackathon, the telco plans to impart more expertise into the participants, as well as helping them bring their ideas to life. Participants stand the opportunity to learn a lot, connect with industry experts, build apps and win exciting cash prizes including a trip to Sweden.

Registration and idea submission for the MoMo developer hackathon has already started and is going on till the 9th of December 2019. Any developer from Uganda, Ghana, Cameroon, Cote d’Ivoire, and Zambia can apply, and stands a chance of walking home with $ 2500 plus a trip to Sweden. Where to register from? Online.

Prizes to win

  • First prize – The equivalence of $2500 in local currency plus a trip to Sweden organised by Ericsson for one team member.
  • Second prize – The equivalence of  $2000 in local currency
  • Third prize – The equivalence of  $1500 in local currency

What and how to submit for the MTN MoMo Developer Hackathon

If you love to code, you can surely participate in the Hackathon. You have to develop the application on your local system and submit it on HackerEarth in tar/zip file format along with instructions to run the application and source code.

The entire idea need not be fully implemented however, the submission should be functional so that it can be reviewed by the judges. The Hackathon will take place online from the 10th of December to 23rd December 2019
